- 2 medium turnips
- ¼ cup whipping cream ( or milk if you want a lighter dish)
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ tsp salt and pepper
- 2 – 3 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Topping

- Mash turnip with cream, butter and salt and pepper.
- Peel and slice the apples and toss gently with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Spray or grease a medium size casserole dish. Layer half the mashed turnip in the dish and top with half the apple slices.
- Repeat with the remainder of the turnip and then the rest of the apple slices.
- Melt the butter for the topping and mix with brown sugar and flour. Crumble the mixture on the top of the apple and turnip.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for about an hour or until apples are soft.
